Wolves were reasonably busy on deadline day, overseeing no fewer than four departures, but it could have been more which has now led to increasing doubt over the future of one player at Molineux.
What’s he said?
First-team centre-back Ryan Bennett left for Leicester City on loan while Jordan Graham, Benny Ashley-Seal and Dion Sanderson took on temporary switches to the Football League.
However, Bright Enobakhare, who had only just returned from a failed loan spell with Wigan Athletic, saw his permanent move to Birmingham City fall through at the last hurdle.
The 21-year-old failed to secure a move to St Andrew’s due to the finances involved, as per Tim Spiers, who said on this week’s The Molineux View podcast:
“Bright was very much going to be a permanent deal, but as I gather, they just couldn’t come to a financial agreement, which is a real shame as Bright’s now in limbo for six months. His career is going nowhere fast, for such a talented young lad.”
Tim Spiers, The Athletic.
An unlikely backup?
Enobakhare is yet to feature for Wolves since they gained promotion from the Championship in 2018, but he has managed to accumulate a total of 49 appearances over the course of his old gold career.

He’s only 21, so he has plenty of time to revive his career, but it just seems rather unlikely to happen in the west Midlands – or does it?
Wolves failed to secure a new striker during the January transfer window, and while it seems improbable that manager Nuno Santo changes his stance on him, he could quickly become a surprise option if things fall into place.
An injury, or suspension, to Raul Jimenez and new striker Leonardo Campana, would open up a place in the team, surely putting Enobakhare next in line.
Who is that?! Nobody has been able to name the teams all of these obscure managers were once in charge of…
Although, the most likely outcome will be him leaving Wolves on a free transfer later this summer.
And in other news, Wolves fans react to this shock exit…
