Whether a deal can be reached or not remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, Leeds United want Che Adams in this upcoming transfer window.Football Insider reported the news a few weeks ago, and Phil Hay has since backed up that story. However, another interesting twist in the tale has surfaced as The Athletic’s Leeds United correspondent gave an insight into what a deal to bring Adams to Elland Road would look like.
What’s been said then?
Understandably, reports of Leeds being interested in a striker has led to many questions from supporters about the details of the deal.
Hay gave an update as he stated that the Southampton man would initially be signed on loan, but that deal would likely include an option to purchase him at a later date.
Of course, this update isn’t all that encouraging when you consider that Ralph Hasenhuttl has said that it’d be tough to let him go on loan, but another update from the journalist states that a deal may be possible.
Nothing to lose
Signing Adams with an option to buy is a no-lose situation for Leeds.
If they can negotiate a fee that they’d be happy with then this could actually be a stroke of genius for the Whites.
Adams’ stock is the lowest it has been for quite some time as he’s failed to score in his first half a season since joining the Saints. But if he can rediscover the form that saw him nominated for the Championship Player of the Year award last term, his value could skyrocket in the few months that he’d be at Elland Road.
If he doesn’t perform, then Leeds don’t have to trigger the option, but if he does then United may be about to play an absolute blinder.
With 22 goals in the division last term, he’s someone capable of bolstering their ranks considerably.
Meanwhile, fans of a Premier League club have been urging their team to sign one Leeds man.
