da leao: Paris Saint-Germain are keen to appoint Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho in order to convince Neymar to stay, according to Don Balon.
What’s the story?
da betobet: Doubts have risen over Mourinho’s future at Old Trafford in recent weeks.
The Portuguese coach has previously publicly criticised his players, but on this occasion he has taken sly digs at the fans.
Don Balon reports that PSG, who have been linked to Mourinho before, feel that he could persuade Neymar to stay at Parc des Princes.
The publication claims that the Brazilian, who became the world’s most expensive footballer by signing for the French club from Barcelona for a fee close to £200m in the summer, is unhappy playing under Unai Emery.
The 25-year-old had a public spat with Edinson Cavani on the pitch earlier in the season and it seems that not all is well away from the field.
The Spanish publication claimed that Neymar could try to instigate a switch to Real Madrid.
Could Mourinho go?
The 54-year-old has coached in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain, but he is yet to work in France.
So far in his management career, Mourinho has not stayed at a club for longer than three years.
In some cases, the coach has had conflict with the hierarchy of clubs and there were rumours during his spells at both Madrid and Chelsea that he fell out with some players.
Mourinho is currently in his second season at Old Trafford, and if he does not extend his deal, then he will be out of contract at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
Given the manager’s history, it would not be a huge surprise if he moved on at the end of a three-year spell at United.
PSG have become a heavyweight in European football, and would be a big club for Mourinho to add to his CV.
