Manuel Pellegrini has completed his first transfer as West Ham manager as Ryan Fredericks joined on a free transfer.
The right-back, who secured promotion to the Premier League with Fulham and was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year, has signed the Hammers on a four-year-deal.
The move has long-been expected after Fredericks turned down a contract extension in January when the clubs refused his demands.
West Ham announced the signing by posting a video on Twitter highlighting the player’s pace, showing footage of him as a youngster on an athletics track romping home to victory in a 100m race.
Fredericks, 25, will officially join West Ham on July 1 and told whufc.com: “It’s amazing for this deal to finally happen.
“Obviously, it’s an exciting time for West Ham. The club have just brought in a new manager in Manuel Pellegrini and everyone knows his CV and what he has done in England before and in other leagues as well. I’m sure I can learn a lot from him. “
Hammers fans have been reacting to the announcement on Twitter and they have been effusive in their praise for the new signing.
