Mustafi, who joined the Gunners from Valencia in 2016, has started 23 of the club’s 33 Premier League games so far this season.
The defender has failed to keep a clean sheet in his last four outings having conceded seven in total.
With all that in mind, it is not hugely surprising that Arsenal fans responded with jibes when the club wished Mustafi a happy 26th birthday on Twitter.
