An emerging report from the Daily Record suggests that Rangers could make a deadline day move for Burnley striker Matej Vydra.
The 27-year-old forward is out of favour at Turf Moor with Chris Wood, Jay Rodriguez and Ashley Barnes providing stark competition for places in the starting XI.
However, the report claims that Sean Dyche is eager to secure a replacement for the striker before allowing him to leave, and that’s a factor which makes the deal very unlikely according to Andy Jones.

Jones, who covers Burnley for The Athletic, has poured cold water on reports in his update on the mooted transfer, per The Athletic’s deadline day transfer blog:
“Understanding is Burnley are unlikely to be able to bring a replacement striker in regardless which means Matej Vydra is very unlikely to be going out on loan to Rangers at the current moment. Will be hearing from Dyche in the next half an hour who will provide further updates.”
It appears that this deal will not be straightforward and the Gers could well miss out on their target.
The deadline is less than 12 hours away and time is running out for the Clarets to find a replacement for the Czech Republic international.
Vydra’s return of 65 goals in 187 Championship appearances suggests he possesses an eye for goal which could bolster Rangers’ bid to clinch the SPFL title, but it seems the Ibrox outfit may have left it too late to secure his services.
Perhaps Ross Wilson should be targeting another option to ensure Steven Gerrard has some form of replacement for the injured Jermain Defoe.
